Making a Gallery: Think 3D

Untitled photo

When designing galleries, we routinely envision an arrangement of pictures on a single flat wall.

Because there is only one direct frontal approach but many off-axis approaches, most initial views are from an angle.

First impressions are important.

Since a viewer’s first impression of a gallery is most often from an angle, designing for multiple angles of approach is essential.

As seen in the images, this becomes even more important when pictures are on adjacent walls. Pictures on adjacent walls can conflict with or complement the arrangements on other walls.

Fortunately, apps like Wall Gallery Designer create and visualize galleries on adjacent walls in augmented reality on iPhones and iPads.
